Who is one of your mentors? What do you admire about them? What makes them unique and what have you learned from them?

So I meant to post this last friday, but the week I had was ridiculous. Funnily enough, this post will actually coincide with what happened.

I take pride in have two great photography mentors in my life, Kari and Jayne. I have known Jayne for a while longer than Kari, but these ladies are truly a great addition to my life. They are two very strong-willed women with thriving businesses and a new studio that's on the rise! Kari is married with a colorful 12-year-old of a daughter, and Jayne is married with three energetic monkeys! (They aren't really monkeys, just a phrase people!) They have dubbed me and the other interns their "minions" (despicable me) and teach us about photography and life in their own unique style.

For example, this past week I had the unfortunate issue of having to deal with legal problems in my business that will go unsaid, but they were there to help every step of the way. From frantic phone calls, and legal advice they kept me calm and read me through all the steps that were necessary I needed to take.

I learned that mistakes will be made, problems go hand-in-hand when owning a business, and people will try to get the best of you... No matter the relationship you have with them.

Plaid, Lace, & Derng

Today I photographed two beautiful ladies as they modeled Derng. As a little background info, I used to work for the lovely lady that runs this company, and I absolutely ADORE her jewelry.

Thank you to my lovely models Sami & Megan for their patience in the rain, and climbing through bushes and dirt! Also, the mosquitoes.. we can't forget the mosquitoes!
Another thank you to Derng for their generous loan of jewels for this session!

Hope you all enjoy!!

A Weekend for TRUE College Kids

This past summer, I went on a lot of adventuring. One of the places I went to was New Orleans, Louisiana for my best friend's twenty-first birthday. To say we had a blast is an understatement! The only two downsides to this trip:
  1. Walking a million blocks in heels, while it's raining (it was really like 10-15).
  2. The weekend was way too short!
But we looked cute doing it! (it was raining, so I couldn't take my camera out.)

We were able to take French Quarter Tour while we were there also! However, we really just fooled around and made complete fools of ourselves. Who wouldn't?

What an AMAZING trip this was, I hope to go back one day!

Memories sometimes need to be captured

Today's insight onto my life is all about photography! The fun thing about this, is that I actually have tons of pictures to share and have my own website as well! On that website I have pictures of portraits, families, and bridals; as well as a blog to go along with it.

I first started taking interest in photography at a young age. My father always had a camera snapping away and documenting me and my four brothers (at the time only 2 were born). When my third brother Gabriel was born, I started to take my dad's camera and start photographing him. I was fascinated by all the images i could capture: from laughing, crying, and playing. Almost anything was possible with this.

One Christmas, my dad bought me my first DSLR (after many little digital ones) and I went crazy with photos! I loved it! So today, I am happy to say, I will continue documenting my life with photos. Whether it be from my iPhone or from my Nikon, pictures will be taken.
